John 1:40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Seek Out
Andrew was one of John the Baptist’s disciples. Like many others of that day, he was announcing and seeking out the Messiah. Everyone understood that John the Baptist was the voice announcing the Messiah. When John spoke and said, “Behold the Lamb of God,” Andrew was immediately one of the two who went to Jesus. They wanted to know the Messiah. Jesus welcomed them, and the first two disciples were made.
John 1:41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).
Notice what Andrew did next. He went and testified to his brother that he had found the Messiah. The second witness to Jesus found his voice. He immediately sought out his brother Simon. This act is how we know that we have a relationship with God. Because we want to go and share the good news with those we know and love.
John 1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone).
The testimony bore fruit: Simon was brought before Jesus. To Simon’s surprise, he changed names during this meeting. Simon would later become one of the twelve disciples Jesus chose. This is a testament to Andrew. Like us, he may not have been the best communicator, but he knew what he needed to do. He found his brother, and his brother also knew Jesus as Savior.
Our jobs are different in the kingdom of God. Some are great communicators or teachers. Some have gifts of prayer or prophecy. But everyone has been commanded to go forth and make disciples. We are to tell others who Jesus is and what He has done for us. So, have you met Jesus yet? If not, let me tell you He is the Messiah. He came to this world to give Himself as a sacrifice for us. He died on a cruel cross, and our sins were put on Him. He was buried and resurrected on the third day. He is fully God and fully man.
Now that you have read this, there is no excuse. You have heard about Jesus. He changed my life. He turned everything in my life around. I was living in sin and did not know I was bound for hell. But I encountered Jesus one night when I hit rock bottom. He reached out for me and pulled me up. He forgave me and has been my best friend ever since. He leads me into righteousness for His sake, not mine. He loves me more than I could ever imagine anyone loving me. He loves you also. Will you ask Him to forgive you today?
