Ecclesiastes 4:1 Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun:

And look! The tears of the oppressed,
But they have no comforter—
On the side of their oppressors there is power,
But they have no comforter.

Suffering of the world

Look around the world today. What do you see? Do you think the world is getting better or worse. Is right wrong and wrong right? The world is skewing more toward our accuser every day. Oppression is common to all nations. The wealthy take advantage of the poor. Not in every case, but more than not. People don’t really take into consideration that we all were created in the image of a Holy God.

The tears of the oppressed are precious to our Father in Heaven. When you research it out, God allowed His chosen people to be conquered partly because of the way they had treated each other. We are to love God with all of our heart, mind and soul. Then we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. When we follow these commands, oppression will not happen.

Watch the news with their “if it bleeds, it leads” attitude, and you will see oppression and suffering. This happens in every country. Most times there is no one to comfort the afflicted. The powerful have their riches and power to inflict damage upon the common man or woman. Greed and power become their mantra. Everything that the oppressor does is for the satisfaction of his pride. What evil there is under the sun.

What will we do as followers of Jesus Christ? How can we be His hands and feet functioning in this evil world? There are many ways we can help. Donate money to Christian organizations, pray, and even go on mission trips to spread love and Jesus. The only question posed to us is, do we care enough for our fellow man?
