Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has put eternity in their hearts, yet no one can find out the work God does from beginning to end.

Unsearchable

We all think of eternity sometimes, but what does this actually mean? Really, we tend not to think about death and the aftereffects of it. I can’t describe eternity intelligently enough. But God has done something beautiful inside of our hearts. He has given us a sense of something more. Life is more than what we see and touch. There has to be more than what we do in this life. Solomon wrote this entire book because he understood this, and it was his way of telling us there is more.

Wrapping our heads around what God is doing is impossible. If this weren’t the case, He wouldn’t be much of a God. This is why it is so amazing to me that religions worship animals and objects. Then some wholeheartedly reject God. They proudly proclaim that this life is all there is, and nothing else. No wonder these people are so depressed and often turn to drugs and alcohol. How sad this thinking is.

Gifts from God

Ecclesiastes 3:11-12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.

Knowing that there is more to life than work and acquiring possessions should cause us to rejoice. But we must remember that God gives us work and things to do to make us feel good about ourselves. Why do you think that the world encourages welfare and family planning? Fatherless homes measure how the government and companies plan how many jails to build. Why? Because without work, we don’t respect the possessions and money God makes possible for us.

This sounds tough, but it is the truth. The world doesn’t like truth because it is true. We weren’t made for this mindset. We were made for eternity and to have a relationship with the Creator of all things. 2Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Are you ready for eternity?
