Ecclesiastes 3:3-4

A time to kill, And a time to heal;
A time to break down, And a time to build up;

Seasons

Order exists in life under the seasons God appoints. We may not believe in all the order God has set. But He has set it, and He gives examples. There is a time to kill. This is where we probably start to furrow our brow. My questions for you. Who flooded the earth? Who slew Israel’s enemies? In the book of Revelation, who judges and causes a multitude of deaths? Yes, God. So sometimes, in our lives, we may be called to take a life. Not murder. But in defense of our families or our country.

There is also a time to heal. This may mean physical healing. But many times, we are talking about spiritual healing. Healing of friendships or marriages. Our lives are full of sin that needs to be cleaned up, and healing must come from it. Life’s dichotomy is eye-opening, isn’t it? But we serve a God we can’t wrap our minds around. His purposes are so much higher than ours.

Sometimes we need to break down walls in our lives. What separates us from God’s will? We need to break those barriers down. What keeps us from loving who God wants us to love? Again, we must break those barriers down. We may need to remove physical barriers. Possessions may block us from relationships. We need to get rid of them. We are to serve God, not this world.

Then sometimes we need to build up. We need to build up our knowledge of God. We need to strengthen our communities in the knowledge of God. We need to build up our children so they can walk the narrow path on this earth for Jesus. Life offers various roads for us to walk, and we need to reflect Jesus to all the people on those roads.

Do you know the reason?

John 12:35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

Solomon, in his wisdom and from a man’s perspective, is trying to tell us that life is not worth living unless we have God. God came in human form. His name is Jesus. The light walked in the world. Do you seek the light? If you do not, then darkness shall overtake you! Call on His name, and you will not.
