Revelation 22:12-13 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.“ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Repeated is very important!

Jesus is telling us one more time that He is coming quickly. The twinkling of an eye. In this coming quickly, His reward is with Him. Our salvation is not of works, but there are rewards that we will earn through the overflow of love He has imputed to us. This love flows out, and we work to spread Jesus to the world. For some, maybe you are a prayer warrior. For others, they are great missionaries. Whatever the works we have done for Him, He is ready to reward us.

He also repeats that He is the Alpha and Omega-the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. He sets the standard, and He is the One who enforces the standard. In other words, He has the first and the last say in all matters. We serve Him! But we have tried to make God our get out of jail free card. Get into a jam, then call on His name. This is not the way God’s plan works.

Blessings and Curses

Revelation 22;14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Following the commands of Jesus is the way in which we and others know we are His. Again, salvation does not depend on this but is an outward expression of this. These have the right to the tree of life and enter into the gates of Heaven.

Revelation 22:15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. Look at the world around us. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Sex is bound inside the marriage. Those on the outside of this are sinners. Murderers and anyone who has false idols in their lives are sinners. We all need forgiveness. Therefore, we all need to repent and turn back to God. Interjection here, do not hate the sinner, hate the sin. Satan is the father of lies. Hate him.

It all rests on Him

Revelation 22:16-17 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Church is important because the angel has come to the churches to testify of Jesus. Do not forsake the gathering of the saints! Come to Him, and you will thirst no more. He is the fountain of Life. Forgiveness is just past repentance. Meet Him there!
