Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

The New Jerusalem

I am a simple country bumpkin. I love open fields and pine forests. Being in an open area with small crowds is my style. But I watch television and hear people talk about the great cities of the world. The buildings and structures can be an amazing work of engineering. But there are always the things that turn people’s noses. The trash, the filth and smells of sewers. You can’t have one side without the other.

What God has created for His people is a true masterpiece. The glow from the precious stones and the clarity of them will be bar none. The most amazing thing about this creation is that it was made for us to live amongst. Thing about the most spectacular palace and then magnify that times a million. This is the home Jesus has prepared for us!

The walls and gates.

Revelation 21:12-13 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. Twelve is an important number in the creation of this great city. Twelve gates for the twelve tribes of Israel. Guarded by twelve angels.

Revelation 21:14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. Again, twelve foundations for the twelve apostles. The city is built on the missionary minded disciples who spread the Word. Everything is designed to reflect the glory of God and those who honored His glory.

The size of the city

Revelation 21:16-17 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. Imagine a city that is the length and width of three quarters of the United States! Then reaching about as far into the sky! This is unimaginable to us. But this is what is being prepared.

Will you find yourself living in this amazing creation? Have you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior? This is your ticket for admittance. I hope I see you there.
