Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea.

All things new

I think everyone can safely say that the smell of a new car brightens your day. I have heard people say the new car smell can boost your mood and bring you out of depression. I do not go that far, but there is something about new things that bring us a certain feeling. Think about a new earth. Not the same as the earth before the end of the millennial reign. But an entirely new, curse-removed earth.

Notice the last sentence, no more sea. Why? Think about the past devotionals we have been through. Where did the beast come from? Remember the sea can also represent the mass of sinful humanity and confusion. This does not mean there is no more water. There is a river of living water coming from the throne in the new city of Jerusalem. Things are certainly looking different-in a blessed way!

New Jerusalem

Revelation 21:2-3 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

A new Jerusalem! Coming down from heaven! Jesus promised us that where He will be we would be also. He went and prepared for us a house. No, a whole new city. Built in heaven where there is no corruption. Then, there is a new tabernacle where man can see God Himself. He will dwell with us. The way that it was in the garden before sin. How blessed!

Those rejected

Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Born twice die once; born once die twice! The rejectors and lovers of sin and not God will not be around in the new earth and new city. Jesus came and died then took our punishment for sin. Do you believe in this fact? If not, there is no part for you in the new thing God is creating!
