Revelation 19:17Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”

The Invitation

Do you remember the old saying, “This is for the birds?” Well, in all reality this is for the birds. The angel is summoning the birds of the earth to come for a great feast. This is the prelude to the battle of Armageddon. To call it a battle is just terminology. Because when we study this battle, we see that there is not too much to it. It is a great slaughter. Many of the world’s armies will be at this battle. Small and great. Kings and commanders, their horses, free and slave, all will be here.

Israel, the country in which the valley of Megiddo lays, is known as a bottleneck for the Black Sea/Mediterranean flyway. There are up to an estimated 1.5 billion birds that fly through. Falcons, eagles, storks and other species will all be at the event the angel is calling for. Why? Because of all the carnage that will be left after Jesus speaks out against those opposing Him!

Pridefulness

Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Since the third chapter of Genesis, Satan has known this day was coming. God Himself prophesied what would happen to Satan because of his part in man’s sin. The heel of the Seed would crush his head. Can you imagine the utter gall of Satan to even try and stand against Jesus?

Revelation 19:20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. Two of the ones in which hell was created for are finally thrown in that terrible place. Unfortunately, millions of souls of humankind will be there with them.

Revelation 19:21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. What is the sword which proceeds from the mouth of Jesus? His word. That is all in which it takes to win the battle. Millions of people die at this time. This never had to be.

Salvation

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is the gate. There is no other way to Heaven. No man, no work, no amount of money will grant you entrance into Heaven. It all flows through Jesus! Have you accepted Him as Lord and Savior?
