Revelation 16:17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”

The last bowl judgment

We have come to the last of the set of three judgments. Seven in each. Each with devastating effects. The seventh angel appears and pours out his bowl into the air. Then God with a loud voice shouts, “It is done!” Emphatically the angel lets all know that the time for judgment has come to an end.

Revelation 16:18 And there were noises and thundering and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. A storm has brewed, and the results of this storm are like none ever seen. A storm so powerful that an earthquake sets off greater than any earthquake ever seen. We have witnessed many earthquakes over the last several decades. More than any other time in history, which is a sign of the birth pangs according to Jesus. But this particular quake has never been witnessed.

The great city

Revelation 16:19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. Which city this is isn’t clearly stated. But since Babylon is mentioned just after the divide, we can assume it is such. Such a powerful force it takes to divide lands. Babylon as mentioned earlier, also can be a worldly system. So, the physical city and the world system in place is split. God pours out the grapes of wrath on both.

Revelation 16:20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. Mountains are considered by Jewish culture of the times as unmovable. But the unmovable is moved by the power of God. Even islands are moved by the power. This is the power of a holy God. Nothing is too great for Him. How can we as fragile men and women stand against such a force?

Taking a stand against God

Revelation 16:21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.

God used hailstones in Joshua 10:11 to help Israel. Hailstones are prophesied in multiple scriptures in Ezekiel. Have you ever been hit by small hail stones? They hurt! Now think about these God will send. But we see those evil men and women still blaspheme God. Oh, how has pride overtaken these people! Will you still stand against God in your pride?
