Revelation 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.

The Lamb and the 144,000

In Revelation 7 we learned that 12,000 from each tribe become followers of Jesus and help spread the message of Jesus. This leads to salvation from a multitude of people that were not raptured. They are sealed with God’s seal to be protected. We find them here on Mount Zion with Jesus. Mount Zion is of course Jerusalem.

Revelation 14:3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. They seem to be transported from Mount Zion into the presence of the throne of God when they start to sing. Their audience besides God is the elders and the four living creatures. The 144,000 are with Jesus continuously singing a song only they know.

Singing?

Jewish history up until written language just like most cultures passed important information along through song. Singing lifts the countenance and heals sorrow. Here the singing of the new song transports them into the presence of the throne of God. When we sing, God and heaven listens. This is not because of the sweet voices singing the song, but it is the condition of the heart the song is coming from.

Revelation 14:15 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Purity is the key concept here. Devout Jewish men who have accepted Jesus as Savior. They follow Jesus everywhere. Redeemed and now the first fruits of God and the Lamb. They are holy and without fault through the redemptive blood of Jesus. This is a picture of all the saints that will be in heaven.

How can I have this kind of relationship with God?

Acts 15:11 “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.” It is by the grace of Jesus and His sacrifice that we can be saved. There is no other way. Come to the cross and give your heart and soul to Jesus!
