Revelation 8:8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

The second trumpet sounds

I have never witnessed this for myself, but they say when you see a clear night in the Plains the sky is much more. The sky seems bigger and the stars seem brighter. In theater terms, it is like going from a small screen to an IMAX screen. Now think of how beautiful seeing one or more shooting stars. They say it seems as if you can reach out and touch them.

The picture here in Revelation 8 is not so beautiful. The angels are in the throne room, and the first trumpet has sounded. Then, the second trumpet sounds, and the next event starts to take place. A huge meteoroid starts to move towards the earth. Larger than anything ever witnessed. The large object reaches the earth’s atmosphere, and the meteor starts to burn up but the rock does not disintegrate. The meteorite lands into the ocean. And then…

What is the fallout from this?

Imagine an explosion greater than the largest nuclear weapon ever formed. This would happen first. Then, a water cavity would form and shock waves. Great Tsunami’s would flood coastlines. This would be a cataclysmic event. Ships of commerce and every other vessel would sink. No more navies or submarines. People already stunned from the previous judgments witness this. You would think everyone would fall on their knees to repent; some do, but most harden their hearts.

One third of the seas turn red. Seafood is no longer available for consumption. Governments already stretched thin are unable to feed the masses. The environmentalists scream global warming and politicians spew more rhetoric. This is not a bright picture of the future we want to imagine, but it is prophetic and will come to pass.

How to avoid this?

This is a recurring theme in all of my devotionals. Jesus saves. He is our propitiation. We just need to accept His grace. What is holding you back? Acts 7:51 “You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” Is this you? Come to the cross and repent.
