Revelation 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

What does the Bible say about heaven?

Imagine standing at the threshold of a strange place and you hear a loud booming voice, “Come up here!” You enter and look around the most amazing place that you have ever witnessed. Fear turns to amazement as you see things never seen before. You realize that heaven is not just a thought in your imagination, it is truly wonerful.

You look and see what you have been waiting to see since your salvation experience is sitting on a throne. Revelation 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. The rainbow reminds you of the promise that the world would never flood again. The One who created everything is before you. You fall down on your face because of His Holiness.

Describe heaven further!

Revelation 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. Who are the twenty-four elders? Men of the twelve tribes and the twelve apostles? Twenty-four angelic beings? Further readings in later chapters would lead us to believe it was men representing the old and new covenants. White robes reminding us of redemption and gold crowns of royal status.

Seven lamps burning around the throne representing the seven Spirits of God. A sea of crystal before the throne and four living creatures with eyes all over it also. Representing purity and omnipresence of God. Four living creatures one like a lion, one like a calf, one like a man and one like an eagle. The scene is so surreal you cannot believe what you are seeing.

What does this all mean?

The imagery is staggering. The meaning of it all is overwhelming. But this is what John witnessed. It is grand and more regal than anything we could ever imagine. And if you know Jesus as Lord, you will witness this up close and personal. This is what awaits believers. Eternity with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
