Luke 18:18 A certain ruler asked him, saying, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Why is eternal life so important?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death… Sin is breaking the law of God. This consists of pride, greed, theft, sexual sin and other actions against what God has told us not to partake. The death that is spoken of here is not the death of our physical bodies. This is the true death, the eternal casting away of our souls. In Genesis, man was given life by God breathing life into us. Woman was created from man’s flesh. This is a picture of our soul.

The outside flesh in which we see in the mirror is not who we are. We are a soul, that God put in us and surrounded with flesh. We think of the outside covering ceasing to breathe as death. This is the furthest thought from the truth. Our soul is how we communicate with, worship and praise God. Souls were created for eternity. Our souls will be somewhere forever. Either in heaven with our Creator or hell which was created for Lucipher and his demons.

Should I believe in eternity?

Job 14:8-9 Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, yet at the scent of water it will bud. Job was a very intelligent and observant man. He looked around at the world in which he lived and from it understood eternal life. Trees seem to die but buds again to preserve life. Life springs forth from everywhere on this world, and in this age if we pay attention. God created it this way.

God mentions eternal life 67 times in His word. It takes more faith not to believe in God than to acknowledge His truth. Luke 16:20-31 tells of the event of the poor man Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus was granted salvation and heaven. The rich man, hell. There was a conversation with Abraham, and the rich man begged for Lazarus to be able to dip his finger in water and put it on the rich man’s tongue. He also begged for someone to tell his brothers about him in hell. Both were denied. This points out hell is a terrible place. Now think of eternity there!

How do I spend eternity in heaven with Jesus?

Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Do you believe Jesus is the righteous Son of God? That He was born of a virgin? He died on a cross? Was buried and resurrected on the third day? He did this to save us from the penalty of sin? This is the path to salvation. The ball is in your court.
