Psalm 148:1-5 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights. Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him all hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, For He commanded and they were created.

Imagine being a part of the crowd the day Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a colt. The people all around shouting, “Hosanna!”, and laying palm branches before Him. The triumphal entry was taking place, and the Lord of Lords was entering His city. The Pharisees and Sadducees thought this was blasphemous and wanted Jesus to tell them to stop praising Him. Jesus responded, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” What an awesome scene it would have been to behold!

I have noticed in the modern church today that many are afraid or just refuse to even sing songs of praise to Jesus. Now, what if you were in church one morning and the stones, birds, trees, and bushes started singing out praise to their Creator? I bet there would be more than one curious look. But praising God is what His creation should do. This should be of the first order of business for His followers. So much more than stones and wood. They have not received salvation from their sin. They were not bound for hell like us. But they still would praise Him!

Pride keeps men and women from realizing the amazing gift of grace that Jesus has provided. Even believers forget the high price the Lord Jesus paid for our transgressions. We as humans are just coasting either heading to hell or letting others around us head there because of our lumbering around. Do we really want this kind of eternal legacy?
