Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

I just learned of a law from a friend that will shed a light on the works theory for making it into heaven. It is called Price’s law. It states half of the work is produced by the square root of the total number of contributors. So, if 100 people are in a group, 10 of those people do half of the work. If there are 10,000 people, 100 people do half of the work. This equates to so few who do the actual work that I would not want to depend on my works taking me to heaven.

This is where God steps in and comes up with a plan for us to make it easy on us but unbelievably terrible on His Son Jesus. It is the plan of faith. Jesus came down from a perfect place where he lived. He was born unto a virgin and walked as one of us in the flesh. He lived a perfect life with no sin. He was crucified on a cross even though he was innocent and the punishment for our sin was placed on Him. He gave up His life and was buried. Then on the third day He was resurrected.

This was God’s gift to us. He freely gives His gift, and the only requirement is our faith in His Son. If you find this hard to believe because it is too easy, then think about Price’s law and the lack of work done by most. Do you really think your works will take you to heaven? No. This will not happen. God loves you so much He made the gift of eternity with Him easy. We just need to place our faith in Him.

Key Takeaways

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 emphasizes that salvation is a gift from God, not earned through works.
  • Price’s law illustrates that a small number of contributors often do most of the work, suggesting relying on works is insufficient for salvation.
  • Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection provide the route to eternal life, highlighting God’s love and grace.
  • Faith in Jesus is the only requirement for salvation; it’s a simple gift from God.
