Luke 1:44 “For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.”

Walking around in stores or visiting a restaurant there is an uneasy feeling these days. Have you noticed the body language and general demeanor of other people? It is as if someone took their favorite toy and poured lemon down their throat. People are so angry and bitter in today’s world. It is all about what they want and if anyone tells them no then they turn bitter. Instead of being respectful, they want to lash out like little children. Today’s devotional focuses on a much more joyful moment. One that a babe in the womb ended up jumping for joy.

Mary was headed to visit her relative, Elizabeth. She was older but was blessed to be pregnant the same time as Mary, though she was much older. She was bearing who was to be John the Baptist, the forerunner for the coming of Jesus. When Mary came close to her, the baby boy Elizabeth was carrying jumped for joy. Even in the womb, John was celebrating and worshipping Jesus in joy. What a refreshing event to hear about, especially in today’s climate.

The path has been laid out for us in the scriptures in how to be joyful. There is only one true way. That way is to have a saving relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The world will shout and scream follow us in our sin. Come and join in and have fun. But fun the world’s way will lead to death and destruction. Only Jesus can lead to true joy.
