Judges 6:36-37 So Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have said; look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Irael by my hand, as you have said.”

Have you ever read a Bio? Most people who list these are interested in influencing others for their purpose or cause. When these are written they list all of the strong points of the person but do not list the flaws. This is one reason I do not read Bio’s. In order to understand the most about a person or the full story, we must understand the entirety. God did not leave out any detail when instructing the authors of the Bible to write it. This is what draws me in closer to wanting a deeper knowledge of His word.

Gideon now understands that He was talking to the Angel of the Lord as referred to in the Old Testament. We know this as a Christophany-a picture of Jesus in the Old Testament. He has been called to the purpose of saving Israel through the empowerment of God. But like us he doubts, even with the knowledge of God being on his side. This is real and raw. We doubt just like Gideon. God leaves no detail untold.

This is good news for us. These truths let us know that God understands us and still wants to use us. This is how we were created to begin with. We are not fully alive until we accept Jesus and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. This is when the true living happens. And it is all possible for us because the Son of God came into this world to save us from sin. Do you doubt Him? We all do at times, but that is when we rely on faith. No blind faith, but faith in the God of the universe. Try your faith and become truly alive.
