1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

There are many people in our world that are hurting. Too many people suffer in silence or are ignored in their time of pain. Think of all the hurt and suffering you see on television. When you walk through your town, look around and notice the looks on faces. This world will bring people to their knees. Like it has been said many times, this world will chew you up and spit you out. But what is it we can do as people go through all this pain and suffering?

We tend to give lip service to these people. How many times have you said, “I will pray for you,” then walk away and forget? Sometimes it is just best to grab their hand and pray. Even better, ask them what is wrong and sit and listen to their problems. People need to be heard. We also need to think that there are millions of people who do not have anyone in their lives. No one to listen to them, no one to give them a hug or even a simple smile. We were created to have relationships with each other.

Our example is Jesus. When you read about Him in the Bible, you will always notice He has people around Him. He listened to them, prayed for them and healed them. He showed compassion and empathy for their plight. Can’t we do the same for our fellow man? Too many times, we just ignore those that are hurting and outcast. This is how the world handles suffering-just turn a blind eye to them. Instead of being like the world, be the hands and feet of Jesus and help.
