Matthew 14:16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Most know this story, the crowd was so great and the hour was late. The people had been following Jesus and He was healing them. His disciples wanted to send the people away because they were hungry. But Jesus had a greater idea as usual. He was going to show His disciples what faith was all about. “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” I could imagine the disciples doing a double take and saying, “What!”

This was a moment that the rubber hit the road. Do the disciples have faith in Jesus with nothing around to give the people to eat, or do they doubt Him? This is a position that we who follow Jesus will find ourselves in sooner or later. Do we trust Him or not? This is called testing of our faith. Jesus will tell us to take a step in the direction of what we see as impossible. The question is, how will we respond?

There is a possibility that we will let our flesh take over, and we will walk away from the challenge. Sometimes our faith is just not at the level that it needs to be. But that is all right. This is a test and if we fail then Jesus will put us back in a remediation class. Sometimes this is necessary. But do not lose hope; He will be there with us helping us take the next step. This is what being under the yoke of Jesus is like. Even when we fail, He is there to walk beside us. God is so good to us. Be blessed.
