Psalm 69:14-16 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink; Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters. Let not the flood waters overflow me, nor let the deep swallow me up; and let not the pit shut its mouth on me. Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good’ turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.
There are days in our lives that it seems the ground we stand on is sinking sand. On other days the soil we walk on is thick, stinky mud and we struggle even harder. We wake up and step on the dog and he bites us. We stub our toe. We head to work and back over the trash can. The traffic cop decides we are going too fast and gives us a ticket. Then we have to deal with co-workers that have all gone stark raving mad! LOL. Of course, this is an exxageration but at times life does feel like this.
But there is One, One who has held us by the hand and seen us through every bad moment in our lives. He has kept our foot from slipping down into a pit. He has kept our head above the crashing seas of the trials of life. He sticks to us closer than any brother or friend ever could. He knows every hair on our head. His name is Jesus. He has suffered the worst day in history for us. Because of His great love for us, He went to the cross and took the punishment for our sins.
What exactly happened when He took our punishment? This means for the first time in history, God the Father put the sins of the world on His Son and turned away from Him. For the first time the ties that bound them together was broken and the Father turned His back on His Son. Perfection turning His back on Perfection. Now what are we to do with this information? All the aforementioned gifts God gives His people are not available to the people who reject Him. Are you a rejector? Or are you an acceptor of Jesus Christ as Savior?
