Colossians 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Philosophy is the systematic study of fundamental truths, reality, knowledge and existence. This is the use of logic and reasoning to explain anything. The world is full of different philosophies. The problem with these is the epicenter of thought in this pursuit is the wisdom of man. But as we know man’s wisdom is foolishness when it comes to trying to explain things of God. Man’s wisdom is flawed because it assumes this wisdom is based on man’s truth. But truth is Jesus, not man’s thought.

Then there is empty deceit according to man’s traditions. There are numerous religions based on traditions from forefathers of old. When you take an honest look at these, they fall apart quickly because they are based on worldly principles. These have names like Secularism, Deism, Worldly Spirituality and Humanism. Most of these claim there is no god. They put human reason and social justice on a pedestal to be worshiped. But again, we know that man’s reason is flawed.

There is only one true way, and His name is Jesus Christ. He was not just a great teacher. He was not just a great social warrior. He was not just a prophet. He is God who came to this earth to save His greatest creation, us. We can trust Him. He knows all because he created all. He has shown us the greatest love we could ever see. He did this by sacrificing Himself for us and taking the punishment for our sin. We just need to look at Him honestly. Then the realization will come who He is. Then we must make a decision if we want to follow Him. The choice is yours to make.
