Titus 3:3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lust and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

There are times when I talk to people about coming to church. But I often times hear a response that has become all too familiar. I bet you can guess what this response is. And yes, you would be right. “Those people at that church think they are better than me. Why do I want to go there.” Now this could be that these people look at the life the church members are living and feel guilty. This is true sometimes. But often times it is because the people of the church actually do look down on the unsaved.

This is actually Satan using people who are saved to do his bidding. Pride is the original sin. Pride is used to pit the two sides against each other. One side thinks they are being looked down on, and this offends them. The other side thinks they are living a more religious life and do not want to mix with the unwashed sinners. The problem with both sides is that they are being played as a chess piece in three-dimensional chess. The chess master is Satan himself.

We need to realize we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. We all need Jesus to come into our hearts. We need His saving grace. Jesus did not look down on any sinner. He ate with them and told them the truth. He also accepted the religious leaders of the day who came to Him for forgiveness also. We need to take our eyes off the worldliness and put them on Jesus. Then we can truly see others as Jesus sees us.

Key Takeaways

  • Many people hesitate to attend church due to feelings of judgment from its members.
  • This judgment often stems from pride, positioning believers against non-believers.
  • Satan uses this pride to create division and offense between the two groups.
  • We should recognize our shared sinfulness and need for Jesus’ grace, as He accepted everyone.
  • Focusing on Jesus helps us see others with love, rather than through a lens of judgment.
