2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

There is a promise that Jesus has made to His followers. That where I go, I go to prepare a place for you that one day you may be with me. So we who have accepted His gift are children of His promise. When He comes back to take us home, how clean do you want to be? Not physically clean, no this does not matter; we will have a new perfect body. But spiritually, how clean will you be? Will sin hang on you or will you be found standing firm under His yoke?

I am not talking about falling down here and there. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. We have to crucify the flesh daily. I am talking about the people who fall off the wagon, roll in the mud and drink the Kool-aid. We are not to tempt God because of His grace. We are to cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh and spirit. That is why crucifying the flesh is so important. Because the pull of sin is so strong. Crucifixion is a terrible, terrible act. It is so harsh, but this is what we are called to do with the flesh daily.

Why should we perform these acts to cleanse the flesh? We do have grace after all. For one, if your words do not match your actions then are your words true? Was your submission real or was it an emotional reaction? This is not me judging but speaking an honest word. We also need to understand God is not to be played with. Every time an angel in the Bible shows up, people drop to the ground in fear. If the created angel causes fear, think about the fear God the Creator will cause when He is angry. But this is all a mute point if He has your heart and soul. Heed the warning, but praise the Savior.
