2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
We all have this thing, right? You know the thing that you were born with that you’ve been trying to hide. Or the thing about your life that happened that you would be embarrassed for anyone to know. Maybe it is something about your health that is making you have doubts and crippling your ability to move forward. Whatever your thing is, you have to know that God knew about it before you did. This is the omnipresence of God in action. But what should we do with our thing?
Whatever it is we struggle with, we automatically think it is a weakness. But God tells us that His grace is sufficient in our weakness. In other words, He can work with His strength through us only when we give it to Him. His power comes into us only when we understand that we cannot, through our strength, accomplish His will for our lives. This is the actual crux of the situation. We have to be in a state of what the world calls weakness. If we do not humble ourselves, then God has to allow us to be humbled. This is what the “thing” in our lives represents. It is our humbler.
But in order for us to have God’s strength to help us in our weakened state, we must first know Him on a personal level. How is that possible? Whether you know it or not the Holy Spirit has been calling out to you for a long time. Sometimes it takes a time of humbling before you can hear Him. But when you do, He is calling you to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I know submit is a strong word in our day and time. But asking forgiveness of our sins and submitting to Jesus is what gives us eternal life with Him. I hope this message drives itself into your heart. I hope you will humble yourself and submit to Him.
