1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Have you ever been given a gift that moved you to tears? It was so thoughtful and not expected that it touched you deeply? This is what God’s gift to us should do. He has bestowed on us His love, Jesus Christ. He came for every single one of us–no matter skin color, economic status or country we were born in. He does not want us to be stuck in our sin. He wants to lift us up out of the mire. But He will only do that if we are willing.
The problem is that the worldly system ruled over by Satan does not know Him. They do not want to know Him. Pride has dominated their lives and they are blinded to the truth. Money, possessions and power are desired by the worldly system. This is the pull we fight as humans. If we break the chains of the oppression of sin, then the world does not know us anymore. They shun us. They also do the same to the Father in heaven. But I, and hopefully you, understand that we are truly blessed in His love.
As Christians we should not expect to be the envy of the world. The reason is so many people are living a lie. Their whole identity is built on a house of cards. They have people around them they think are friends, but if they lose their money or fame these friends vanish. God does not care what we have. He just wants our obedience and love. He sticks closer to us than a brother through good and bad times. Which will you choose? The worldly system or Jesus?
