Matthew 8:1-3 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord if You are willing , You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, I am willing;be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was gone.
After the Covid-19 experience the world has grown more aware of how quickly a contagion can spread. We wear masks and wash our hands more. But the most interesting thing we do now is being more anti-contact with people. We see someone with a runny nose or hear someone coughing, and we avoid contact with them. There are children who struggle with socialization because their parents kept them at home away from other people, even their family.
Isolation is how the people over generations treated people with leprosy. They were to leave cities and camps where their friends and families lived. They lived lonely lives and had little hope. But this was the cost for this terrible disease not to spread. A leprotic man met Jesus as He came down from the mountain. In front of the crowd he called out for mercy. Without hesitation, Jesus reached out to the man and healed him. Jesus met this man in the terrible place he found himself. He did not run or deviate; Jesus healed Him!
This is the Lord I serve. He came into the darkness and saved me from the terrible sin in which had engulfed my life. I had no hope, and He gave hope to me. I was never one to show mercy, but mercy was shown to me. This meeting with Jesus changed everything in my life. I pray that you have met with Jesus in this same way. The encounter with Jesus for me led me to a world with hope and love. I am now a son of righteousness. Come to Him and ask His forgiveness, then see how everything changes for the better.
