Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different gospel, which is not another, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

During Paul’s time of writing the letter of Galatians there was a group called Judaizer’s. They insisted that Christians had to follow the custom’s of Judaism. This was against the teachings of Christ. He came to fulfill the law and make a new covenant. But because Jews were coming to Christ, they were pulled back into the old covenant ways. The families of these converts had disowned them, and they were kept from going to the Temple. Paul was condemning these people who were teaching a false gospel.

Throughout history there have been numerous movements that sought to add to or take from the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mormonism is a great example. Joseph Smith had a vision and an angel gave him golden plates inscribed with a sacred text. This has set millions of people in a direction away from God. There have been numerous false teachers that have led unsuspecting people down a path away from Christ. This happens because people hear of Jesus, but do not listen to what was spoken of Him. The true gospel is therefore perverted out of ignorance.

People who pervert the gospel are cursed by God. Their eternal destiny is to a place Jesus spoke the most about, hell. This is something that the modern church is scared to speak of, but it is real. God is a loving God, but love is just one of His attributes. He is also a righteous God who is jealous over His children. It is a terrible thing to be in the hands of an angry God. I am not trying to scare anyone but am just speaking the truth of the gospel. If you do not know Jesus and His word, then take time to read His scriptures. Discover what He says, not what others say about Him.
