Daniel 9:4-5 And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and your judgments.

Daniel has realized that the time for captivity the Lord set for the Israelite’s was about to come to an end. He took time to pray for the people and himself in this prayer. Daniel knew God’s word was the truth. And he wanted his people to know and repent of the sins they had committed. He also wanted the people to know who they were repenting to. If they had forgotten being in a pagan land where there were multiple pagan gods, Daniel was about to remind them.

“O Lord, great and awesome.” Our God is bigger than any problem. Nothing can separate us from His love but our rejection of Him. He has created all things, and by Him all things were created. Think about how orderly creation is: the sun rises and sets everyday; the seasons come without fail. This is God at work in creation. Now think about the spark that allows your heart to beat. Where does it come from? Of course, God. This is who we serve.

“He loves those who follow His commands.” Confession of sin is where to start. He knows we are weak in the flesh. He commands us to come to Him and confess. This is not any different than our earthly fathers expect, He can truly forgive us. Then we crucify the flesh daily, seeking His way and grace. God is so good to us. Why do we want to run from Him? Go to the true Father today and let Him know you want a relationship. This is true medicine for the soul.
