1 John 4: 7- 10 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this love, not that we loved God but He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Living out of love. This is our call as Christians. But first we must discover what love is before we can live from it. Most would say love is a feeling that gives me tingles when I look at a person. But this would not be the answer. Love is a choice that no matter what I will love someone through whatever. Hard times, good times, rich or poor. It is a decision to stay the course no matter the cost.
He who does not love like this does not know God. God’s love is not a tingling feeling for us. His love is true. He is the creator of love and He sticks by the people He loves. Jesus in John 15:14 “You are my friends if you do whatever I command.” John 15:17 commands us to love one another. So we are bound to love others as we are loved by Christ. We do this by sticking alongside fellow Christians in hard times. We give of ourselves to them. This means money and time.
God manifested His love towards us in that He sent His Son to be a propitiation for us. That means that Jesus took the penalty for our sins. That does not depend on us. But if we want to enjoy the fruits of His sacrifice we have to accept Him as Lord and Savior. If you do not know Him then get into the scriptures and read about Him. The whole Bible tells us about Christ. You will never regret the decision for Christ.
