Ecclesiastes 1:3-4 What profit has a man from all his labor, in which he toils under the sun? One generation passes away, and another generation comes. But the earth abides forever.
We strive to have a better life than the previous generations. It is inputted into us to learn and work harder to accomplish that goal. We make more money but the things that the world tells us makes it worth the effort keeps changing. The cost goes up higher and we work harder and harder. Before we know it time has passed us by and what is left? Our children are grown and we have missed so much of their lives it is like we were not part of the family. Then the things we acquired fade away and wear out. So what are the truly important parts of life?
All things fade away in this world, except this earth and God. So where does this leave us? We acquire and the things we have are left to others or fall apart. Money is left to others but how do we know how they will use it? This worldly system is not built for eternity. We are not supposed to spend our lives concerned with carnal things. We are more than that; we have eternal souls. God tells us we are made a little lower than the angels, so we were created to depend on Him. Through His grace and mercy, He wanted us to be His children made in His image. Our souls are the most important thing that was created. Where are you and your children going to spend the rest of time when this life is over?
I hope through this writing that it makes you reflect on the truly important parts of your life. First, God. Second, spouse. Third, children. After these, it is what you prefer. But it all starts with God. If you do not have a relationship with Him, then life should and will be fleeting and depressing. But do not fret. Jesus is calling you. He has been since the day you were born. Are you expecting His call? Are you paying attention to what He is telling You? If not, then today is the first day of the rest of your eternity. What will you do with it?
