James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

I think, therefore I am is a philosophical reality in man’s eyes. But what if all we think is full of pride and envy? If this is so, is man’s wisdom truly wisdom? Thought is encouraged by God, but if that thought leads us down a path of vanity and foolishness is it good? I have thought and I am, but what I am is nothing righteous. So is my thought that leads me to evil thought and ultimate destruction mean I should have never been?

Yes, this has become too philosophical but it shows the importance of what we let influence us. Our thoughts should be from the loving nature in which God has shown us. Pure in that through love we should treat others. Gentle is the way in which the truth should be delivered. Yielding in not to provoke anger from others. Merciful in the way we operate because we have been shown mercy. Without partiality because we are called to make disciples of all men by Jesus.

These are some of the characteristics we are to show when we deal with our fellow man. People do not care what you know, until they know that you care. When we treat others the way the Holy Spirit showed James, then we have a better chance of being a Godly influence. It is critical not to act like the world but to reflect the Son. This is what being a disciple of Jesus is all about. In His name and in His way.
