Romans 5:1-2 Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We have been celebrating Christmas this week. The reason for the celebration is not for the things we will receive. But the true reason is for the birth of Christ. In order for God’s plan to come to fruition there had to be a beginning. This beginning is Christ coming into this world as a humble child, born in a cave and laid in a manger. His purpose was to glorify the Father.

God our Father set in motion a plan to save us from our sin. The Son was the fulfillment of His plan. He walked among men as a man, but yet fully God. He lived a sinless, perfect life. In the end He chose to go to the cross and die for our sins. He died, was buried, then resurrected by the Father. His faith was trusting the Father in resurrecting Him. Our faith is trusting in that resurrection and the forgiveness of our sin.

We now, through his birth, burial and resurrection, have access through faith to the grace in which He provides us. We can now rejoice in the glory of God because of the Son’s actions. This is the reason for us to celebrate this week. We have a God and Savior who loved us enough to die for us. To take all our sins in order for us to be righteous. All it takes is faith in what the Son has done and confessing our sin and His Lordship.
