1 Corinthians 13:4 – 7 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself; is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
We are heading into the week of Christmas. This week is not about Santa Claus. It is not about the presents you will receive. This week is about a child born in Bethlehem. Born of a virgin. Whose name is Immanuel, which means the Lord with us. This child came in the most humble of ways. Born into a poor household, with a teenage mother and conceived by the Holy Spirit. His earthly father adopted him. He would be teased His entire life for being born out of wedlock. He came to save us from the punishment for our sin.
He did this out of love for us. He suffered long walking on this earth as a man but fully God. He did not envy the rich or proud. He did not puff Himself up as King. He was not rude or seek His own glory. He came to glorify the Father in heaven and to suffer for us. He spoke the truth because He is the truth. He believes in us and gives us hope. He endured all the sins of the past, present and future for us. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Do you know Him? I do not mean know of Him from some arbitrary reason. But do you truly know Him and have a relationship with Him? He is the bridge to the Father in heaven. No one comes to the Father except through Him. There is no other way. Not Buddha, not Muhammad, not Confucius. The only way to enjoy eternal life with God is through His Son, Jesus Christ.
