2 Kings 18:29-30 “Thus says the king, ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not be able to deliver you from his hand; ‘nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying “The Lord will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
The moment where the rubber meets the road. Where reality is coming for you and it does not look good from our perspective. Maybe there is a personal battle you are facing and you can not see a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it is a financial struggle and you do not know where the next meal for your family is coming from. Whatever the battle, it is real and there seems to be no good outcome. What do you do? If you know Jesus, then you have a way out. But sometimes He allows these crisis of faith to test you.
Hezekiah was in one of these times. He was facing total annihilation facing the most powerful nation on earth at the time. Assyria was the powerhouse country of the day. Hezekiah listened to God and established the Law of Moses in the land. He rebelled from Assyria like God willed and now a vast army was at the threshold of the gates of Jerusalem. The Assyrian king sent an envoy to talk with the Jewish people and try to convince them to turn on Hezekiah. Times looked bleak. Would the faith that was shown in turning back to God hold?
Of course we know the story. Hezekiah prayed to God and the prayer was answered. An Angel of the Lord came that very night and slaughtered the Assyrian army. Now we may not need an answered pray like this, and the Angel of the Lord may not take care of our enemies. But, He is faithful to us if we show faith in Him. He does answer prayers and He will see us through anything He calls us to. If you do not know Him, this is not available to you. Will you seek Him today? He is waiting to show you what the Lion of the tribe of Judah can do for His children.
