John 3:3-4 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

Nicodemus had in stated that God had to be with Jesus in the previous verse. He had seen the miracles and listened to what Jesus had done. He really wanted to say I know you are God in the flesh. But due to Nicodemus’s stature and pride, he refused to do so. Jesus, after listening to this man, seems to almost blurt out the above statement. He caught Nicodemus off guard with this. And the context of this statement challenged deep thought in this man.

Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Was this a statement of literality? It was not physically possible to be born twice. So what could this man of God be talking about, more than likely was the question in Nicodemus’s mind. He was right; it was impossible to be physically born twice. But in order to be in the kingdom of God, there has to be two births. One physically and one spiritually. But because he did not understand, Nicodemus asked the obviously impossible outcomed question.

Now, how does one truly become born twice? First there has to be a knowledge of who we are truly dealing with. Jesus was not a prophet. He did prophesize though. He was not a great teacher from God even though He was a great teacher. Jesus was God in the flesh. He came to perform the plan that God the Father had for Him in order to save us. Are you willing to consider this? Are you willing to ask the questions like Nicodemus? Would you accept the truth that Jesus was trying to instill in this conversation? Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once. This is time now to contemplate.
