Hebrews 11:31 By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she received the spies with peace.

The average American seems to be enamored with status. Keeping up with the Jones’s. Having the best money can buy. The harder you work and the more you acquire makes you a better person. We look down on others and think to ourselves how much better we are than those below us on the success ladder. Maybe this is not just American culture but the culture of this world. But there is a better way.

Rahab was a prostitute. Selling her body for money is how she survived and supported her family. She was used and looked down upon by those of the city of Jericho. But, God had a different plan. She encountered spies from the Hebrew nation. They came to learn information of the city and take it back to Joshua. Everyone in the city understood they were on the brink of war with the Israelites, but Rahab stepped out in faith and helped them.

She hid them from the soldiers and in return was made a promise. She was saved and became a member of the Hebrew nation. God blessed her to be in the lineage of Jesus. Because she stepped out on faith, her whole trajectory in life changed. Her son was Boaz, the kinsmen redeemer of Ruth. God does not respect persons or need money. He looks at the heart and sees faith. Do you want to change your life like Rahab? Then focus your faith on Jesus. Your life will be turned upside right!
