Psalm 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept.

The southern kingdom of Judah had almost 170 years to repent or end up like the northern kingdom of Israel. They were conquered by the Assyrians. They did give a try–they had a couple of good kings but in the end they failed. Babylon came and conquered the land around 520 BC. All seemed lost and all that was left to do at that time was to reflect on all that had led to that moment.

We as a country in the 21st century are very much in a similar situation. We are at the precipice of not being able to repent and turn back to the Lord. How can a country that lets so much sin prevail think it will survive God’s judgment? There is still time to repent, but will our hearts be broken enough for us to go through with revival? God is giving us time because He is merciful and shows tremendous grace. But we have to be one hundred percent committed in turning back to His way.

Let’s start today. Go to your local church and worship the Lord of Lords. Let us soften our hearts and let Him come in to help us. The kingdom of Judah tried but would not fully commit. Can we, one person at a time, dig our feet in the ground and stand firm in God’s love?
