Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
There is a belief system called existentialism. It basically boils down to the understanding life has no predetermined purpose, value or meaning. In other words we were not born for a purpose; we have to create our purpose through our choices. We must first exist then create our essence then find meaning. This type of thinking is directly against what God tells us through Jeremiah’s writings.
God knew you and He knew me before. Before what I cannot with good understanding tell you because God is not constrained by time, we are. But before Jeremiah was born God knew him and sanctified and ordained him a prophet. This tells me that we were created with a purpose in mind. Whether we fulfill that purpose is our choice, but the purpose is there for us to perform. God made us with the tools and mentality to accomplish our purpose. It is based in our faith in Him.
The first purpose we were all born with is to know Jesus as our Savior. God is a God of relationship but also a God of righteousness. To know Him truly, we must first confess our sin and repent. When we do this then there is a whole new world that opens and we can live to fulfill our true calling. But this first starts with the saving knowledge of His grace. Consider this today, then choose the beginning of wisdom. Choose Him.
