John 15:8 “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.
Let’s be clear on this matter. We are not saved by works. Works come after we are saved. They are a sign of the overflow of love showed to us by Jesus. James 2:14-26 teaches on this extensively. Works are a sign of your salvation. We are called to take the gospel to the world and make disciples in Matthew 28. Works are a foundational principle taught to us by Jesus.
We know from the previous devotional that God prunes us to make more fruit. He takes away branches that do not produce. So we should have the mindset of working our works to glorify the Father. There is also no retirement in this plan. We are to work unto the time we meet Jesus. If someone becomes ill or unable to physically do this then there is always prayer. Prayer in of itself will open the gates of heaven. So really there is no excuse.
Jesus clearly states in the verses above that if you want to be His disciple then work is necessary. But first there has to be a confession of faith in His Lordship over your life. There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus. Jesus made this clear when He said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me. Come to Him today and ask for Him to save you. Then get busy for the kingdom work!
