Colossians 1:9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, did not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding

This is an example of a cornerstone principle of the kingdom of God. We are to pray for one another. We are to pray when things are difficult, when things are going good and for the gospel to be spread through each other. We are to continually pray for each other. This is how God meets the needs we have. He does know we have them but requires us to ask for them.

What specifically should we pray for one another outside of physical needs? According to the scripture above a good place to start is with knowledge of His will. The beginning of knowledge is to know the Lord. So pray for people to come to salvation. This should encourage believers to spread the word which is His will. He wants us to be ambassadors for Him on this earth.

Then we should pray for ourselves and other Christians to have spiritual understanding. This means reading Gods word and understanding what it is telling us. It also means we should know how to use it to help new Christians to mature. So we must understand the word to teach the word. This is not a complete lists by no means but these are great places to start after people have prayed for us. Pick up your bible and read, then pray. It works best around others so hopefully you will be in a church in your community today.
