Philippians 1:12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.
So at this time when this was written, Paul was chained to Roman guards because he is under arrest. He has been beaten, ship-wrecked, bitten by a poisonous snake and a host of other tough life situations. But he does not reflect on the things that has happened to him in a negative way. He views them through a positive lens because through all of it the gospel of Christ has been proclaimed.
We all have suffering that is common to man. We get sick, we break bones and various and sundry other things. But what we are talking about here is not this. We are talking about specific incidents that the enemy throws in our way to stop the gospel. It could be a flat tire on the way to testify. Maybe someone confronts you during giving your testimony. Maybe it is something much worse. Do you let it stop you from spreading Christ to the world?
This is not an easy question for most of us to answer. Maybe we have not been in this situation. Maybe there is no cause for the enemy to waste his time because there is no effort on our part. But be assured that if you do proclaim Christ and the message starts spreading, the enemy will notice. He will take steps to prevent this from happening. Be prepared and be prayed up. God will provide what you need to make it.
