James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
We all sin and come short of the glory of God. We need to confess and ask forgiveness of our sins from God. But we also need to confess our trespasses to the person we committed them against. This brings us back into good relations with our fellow man. It also takes guilt off of us so we can live a more peaceful life.
Then we should pray fervently for one another. Praying for each other’s healing spiritually and physically. Fervent prayer is not just like saying grace for our food. No this is a prayer with emotional meaning from a place of love. If it is a person that does not know Christ then we should pray fervently for their salvation. If it is a brother or sister in Christ then we should pray fervently for the spiritual battle they are in. We should always be in prayer.
James tells us when we pray like this that it avails much. This means that our prayers ring in heaven and God hears them. Then the matter is in the hands of the loving God who created all things. Moses intervened on behalf of the Israelites and it caused God not to destroy them after their rebellion in the wilderness. This is how we should use prayer on behalf of ourselves and others. God is waiting to hear from you.
