James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.

Wisdom and understanding comes from the accepting the Lord as savior. It is worked out over many years of study and failure. The wise are humble because of lessons learned through life. Life has a tendency to humble people over time. Worldly knowledge is acquiring facts and recalling them. But this is not wisdom. Wisdom is shown to us by God to teach us how to activate the facts we acquire. This is known as the sanctification process.

When we are saved through the blood of Christ we have all of the Holy Spirit we will ever need. The Holy Spirit gives us understanding. Why is this? Why is this the way God chooses? Because we are clean on the inside but the outside is still dirty. The flesh or better said our sinful nature is still there. We have walked without Christ and we are still dirty, except now our soul is covered with the blood of Jesus. He will not leave us as we are, He loves us too much. So the sanctification journey begins.

Understanding this is what causes us to be humble. We are nothing outside of God. This is true wisdom. Do you want to be wise? Then seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. Stay in His word. Pray more. If it were all about making it to heaven, then why did he not just take us home when we were saved? Be blessed.
