James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Desires are things we want but do not need. Needs are things we must have to survive. What are some of your spiritual needs? Do you know what they are? Have you taken the time to assess what they are? Now what are some of the desires you have for your life? I bet you had a picture of a new phone, rod and reel or maybe a new car. These are just some of the things we desire.

Now which of the aforementioned desires or spiritual needs have you spent the most time thinking about over the last week? If you had a list of either would you be ashamed to show them to Jesus? I am not trying to make you feel bad. It is hard in this televised world not to think of the things advertised. But if you are serious about your walk with the Lord, then you must understand where and who you are and the needs you have to be more like the person He wants you to be.

Have you asked Him what you lack? If you have and He has shown you, have you asked Him for help in those areas? This is important in growing into the person you are meant to be. This week put the phone down and cut the television off. Pick up your Bible and pray for Jesus to show you how He wants you to grow. You will be surprised where He may lead you.
