Daniel 1:2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.
God is love. This is a true statement. We forget about God being holy. His holiness cannot be in the presence of sin. Now he loved His people in Judah but they did not learn the lesson from the the northern kingdom of Israel. They continued in the same sin and did not repent. So God gave them over to the penalty of that sin. They were conquered by Babylon, taken into slavery and the articles of the house of the Lord were transferred into a false church.
This should be a lesson for us who follow Christ. We have been forgiven of our sin, but if we continue in that sin then we will not be spared the consequence. God will not accept His glory being tainted and there will be a penalty for taking advantage of His grace. That does not mean that we can lose our salvation, no that is not the case. It means He is holy and He hates sin that much. He loved us enough to send His Son to die for us. But we should not tempt the Lord. Jesus taught this lesson in Matthew 4.
We need to be serious when it comes to the commands of God. We need to take sin seriously and realize there is a price for us committing it. It took the life and death of His Son to redeem us. Why would we disregard this price He paid just to give into the flesh and pull of this world? Pray, read the scripture and meditate on your steps when walking with God.
