James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

This verse starts off very strong. Someone who commits adultery has left their love and gone straying into the world. God is making a very clear line in the sand here. This is something that Christians should pay very careful attention too. What is the world? It is the culture of sin. It is at odds with God. It is not the physical realm He created.

God tells us that being in friendship with this culture of sin is being at odds with Him. Why? People think that living out the commands of scripture puts a limit on our life. This cannot be further from the truth. The scripture is telling us how to live our most fruitful life. Sin is destructive, so therefore if we are friends with sin then we are destructive. In turn we will eventually destroy our lives.

So do we choose God and be fruitful or do we choose sin and be destructive and then destroyed? We can be forgiven of the sin we have committed. That is the reason Jesus came to earth, so He could pay the price to ransom our souls. It is my prayer you know Him.
