Luke 14:34 Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?

Have you ever tried eating french fries without salt? Some may eat them this way, but to me they are not the same. Something is just off with the flavor. Salt is good. The body needs salt to survive. The taste buds also need salt to make food taste better. In the same way if a Christian does not know the word, then how effective are they?

The answer is that they are not effective at all. What brings people to the saving knowledge of Christ? It is not our words. No it is the word of God. It convicts. It separates the muscle from bone. It is as sharp as a two edged sword. But if we do not have the word to share then we are like flavorless salt. We are not effective for the kingdom of God. If all our salvation is about is making it to heaven then why does God leave us here after our salvation?

We are here to grow and be formed more into the person God intends for us to be. The only way we can be that is to be seasoned by His word. Then we can put His word into action and grow in faith. When people see your change they want to know how. The only way we can lead them to God is with the same Word that changed us. Take time to be in the scriptures everyday, it can make an eternal difference.
