Luke 12:54 Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ” A shower is coming; and indeed it is.”

Discernment is an act of perceiving in the absence of judgment with a goal of perceiving spiritual guidance. We use discernment trying to find the things in our lives which are from God. We have to use our faith and spiritual antenna to interpret the signs in which God is showing us. The level of our discernment is based on the level in which our tank is filled with Jesus.

How much do you yearn to draw close to Jesus? What steps are you taking to allow yourself to draw closer to Him? Or is getting into heaven enough? Is it enough for you to see the clouds and feel the breeze in the heat and dryness? Or do you want to feel the moisture from the rain on your skin? Do you want to see the fruit in you perk up for a moment and then droop? Or would you like the fruit to truly grow and mature?

Use the discernment God has given you and determine what you would like to do. If it is to be a disciple and learn and grow, then take the proper steps. Pick up your Bible and read. Spend time meditating on His word. Pray. Talk with other believers and learn from their experience. These are vital to be the person Jesus is trying to form you into. If it was just about getting to heaven, then why would He just keep you here on this earth?
