Mark 8:11 Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.
We as people generally have a doubting nature. We have trouble trusting. It is because of our experiences in life that we are this way. We have had our hopes dashed on more than one occasion. We want to put our trust in something but the emotional hurt we receive after a failed attempt is overwhelming. The Pharisees were no better or worse than any of us. We were just like them at one time.
They wanted a sign from heaven. They had witnessed healing of the blind and the lame being able to walk by the touch of Jesus. They wanted more. They wanted heaven to open up and for God the Father to tell them. Do you know someone like this? No matter how much you witness to them or how much they see the Holy Spirit move they refuse to believe. Questioning God is not a sin if we truly seek. Asking for God to open heaven and talk to you is though. This is the only sin we cannot be forgiven. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
God seeks a relationship with you. But if you spurn Him time after time, then He will stop. The very next verse in Mark tells us this very thing. So do you really want the answer to your question? Do you really want to know if there is a God? Then ask. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Then when He does honestly take a look and then believe.
