Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
There will be a day that all who know Jesus as savior will have rest. It is a day that we look forward to. It feels like every day there is a battle to be fought as a Christian. There is always some temptation to face or test to pass. That is because this world is under the influence of Satan. Sin rules the day. We as Christians are paddling upstream on this earth. While others are coasting along, we struggle.
This struggle can be overwhelming for us. Sometimes we fall back into our sinful ways. But if when we stumble we can still confess our sin and repent. He is faithful to forgive us. It is when we do not confess and repent after falling back into our sin that is problematic. Maybe we become tired or are overwhelmed by the flesh but being in this spot is dangerous. it causes a mindset to come upon us that we then tempt God. We push the limit to far. We should be fearful if we are at this point.
There could be an early death or loss of a reward that awaits us at these times. Our testimony we want to leave for our loved ones could be wiped away. Meeting Jesus in our shame could be devastating. Paul tells us to run a good race and encourages us to make it to the finish line. Jesus tells us to get up every day and to crucify the flesh. The race is long and hard. Prepare yourself daily for the journey ahead.
